Old Town Hall is a beautiful federal-style building located in the historic heart of downtown Salem, Massachusetts. Nestled between the Essex Street pedestrian mall and cobblestoned Front Street, this spacious and iconic structure is the crowning jewel of Derby Square and the earliest surviving municipal structure in Salem (dating from 1816-17.)The two-story brick building features Palladian windows, carved wood details, antique chandeliers, decorative columns, and wooden floors. Old Town Hall is a “do-it-yourself” venue that gives you the palette to create your special day.Old Town Hall has an elevator and is handicapped accessible. The building is not air conditioned.
Main Floor
The first floor space presents wooden floors and pillars with old world charm. From June to October, this first floor space is home to the Salem History Museum. Accommodations can be made to share the first floor with the exhibit if your wedding falls within this time frame. After hours, the Main Floor can accommodate cocktail parties and receptions for up to 100 people.
Great Hall
The second story of Old Town Hall, the “Great Hall”, is a breathtaking room with large Palladian arched windows, which fill the room with warm light, complemented by tall ceilings, chandeliers, and wooden floors. This room includes a small stage and a baby grand piano. The Great Hall is the perfect location for receptions and special events hosting up to 150 people.
